Tan Sri Abdul Kadir is an activist in promoting tourism and developing and operating Hotels and Resorts. He has had served the government since 1978, and was the Minister of Culture, Arts and Tourism of Malaysia from 1999 – 2004. Under his watch, Malaysia achieved a 60% average growth in tourism arrivals for 5 years and established as the 2nd biggest tourism country in Asia after China. Tan Sri Abdul Kadir is the man who coined the internationally catchy slogan and music ‘Malaysia Truly Asia’ and the domestically ‘Cuti-cuti Malaysia’. He conceptualised and launched ‘Colours of Malaysia’ to promote Malaysia as a country with festivals and carnivals throughout the year; a country where peoples with different cultures and traditions are able to live like a closely-knit family absorbing the best from each other and resulting in a most colourful and happy Malaysia. Tan Sri Abdul Kadir is still very much involved in politics and he is now the President of ‘Parti Ikatan Bangsa Malaysia’ which is formed to foster a Bangsa Malaysia that is truly united, fair, just and very high in the Happiness Index.
