Ms. Moe Chiba

Ms. Moe Chibajoined UNESCO Jakarta as a Programme Specialist and Head of Culture Sector since January 2018.  She began her career at UNESCO Paris in 2000, where her key works included the coordination of multiple projects such as UNESCO Craft Awards, Felissimo Design 21; UNESCO Culture Sector’s participation in Johannesburg Summit (2002 ), Kyoto World Water Forum (2003) and Aichi World Expo (2005); and the intergovernmental process of drafting UNESCO 2005 Convention for the Diversity of Cultural Expressions (2002-2005).   In her previous tenure in UNESCO Delhi office between 2006 and 2018, Ms Chiba spearheaded multiple programmes aimed at inscribing culture and heritage into development agenda, namely Indian Heritage Cities Network, Culture-Based Rural Livelihood Development and Participation of Persons with Disabilities in Cultural Life.  Ms Chiba looks forward to initiating similar culture-led development projects from UNESCO Jakarta Cluster office in close cooperation with the Government and civil society organizations.
